Promotional still for Incident War Room Simulation

Course lead

Marcus Iyer

Designs high-intensity simulations with safety rails for junior staff.

Description

This simulation is loud on purpose. Facilitators inject conflicting data, partial tool outages, and ambiguous executive questions while you keep the activity log current. You rotate roles so everyone experiences coordination friction. The retrospective focuses on communication clarity and evidence discipline rather than technical heroics. Teams leave with a shared vocabulary for the next real event.

What is included

  • Six timed injects with hidden dependencies
  • Observer rubric for communication quality
  • Activity log template aligned to audit expectations
  • Optional executive briefing segment with coach feedback
  • Replay recording for internal training reuse

Outcomes

  1. Run a thirty-minute war room segment without losing the log thread.
  2. Identify two communication failures and propose concrete fixes.
  3. Deliver a five-minute executive summary grounded in facts only.

Participant questions

Schedule it on a planned training day. We do not recommend running the simulation during production freeze weeks.

Experience notes

“The conflicting injects were stressful in a useful way. Our bridge script is shorter and clearer now.”
